Your Language Learning Solution
You’ve heard Gangnam style and I’m sure you can memorise the words right? This can be said for languages if put to a tune. Stay with me now as I go a little scientific. There are many neurological links between language and music. Music activates parts of the brain on both the left and right sides which makes remembering something to a tune a lot easier.
Have you ever been in an exam and thought, “I know this answer” and remembered it because you put a tune to it? A good example would be the periodic table song, which I wont be singing for you today as ironically I’ve forgotten it! The same can be said when listening to a song that you haven’t heard in a long time and recalling the words.
While helping with pronunciation, music with lyrics help you understand how sentences can be put together, grammar and will help you understand the way the language is formed.
Learning a language purely by listening to music won’t work (we’ve lost count the amount of times we’ve tried to learn Korean by listening to Psy’s songs) but it will help you when recalling phrases and perfect pronunciation so yes, use music as a tool along with a language program and you’ll be fluent in no time!
